Hickory, North Carolina

Paul and I are “empty nesters” and while our children are grown up and gone, we still have two small Cocker Spaniels that we feel are a dear part of our family. Two months ago, one of the dogs fell in (Kish). Thankfully Paul was there to grab him but it was then we noticed that we really needed a pool fence to keep the dogs from falling in (they are not puppies so fatigue may set in and cause them to drown if we are not around). We contacted Pool Guard and were very pleased with the professionalism and the turnaround time and most importantly we can work in the garden without worrying about the dogs anymore.

The parents of two children who were found dead in a neighbor's swimming pool in Jacksonville, FL last month have been arrested in connection with their drownings and have told police they had left the two alone before.

They turned themselves in to police with their attorney this morning around 9 and remain in jail on $50,000 bond each.

According to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) report, the mother left her children unattended at home around 6:35 p.m. to go to work. She had called her husband, who was at work, and he told her he was leaving his job to come home and be with the two children, police said.

But, the report said, he did not leave his job and offered alternate stories about where he was. First, he said his car broke down, then later said he stayed at work to get "more hours" of pay.

He admitted that he and his wife had left their children alone on other occasions.

The owner of the home where the children were found in the pool said he was not at home at the time of the drownings, but had left the pool gate around the pool latched from inside the yard, the police report said. The owner found a wooden stepladder, which was not his, outside the gate. Another neighbor said the children had been outdoors playing with the ladder the day they died.

The State Attorney's Office released a statement today explaining their rationale for the charges:

"Parents and caregivers owe a special duty to provide their children with the supervision and care necessary for those dependent upon them. When parents and caregivers fail in that obligation, it is the duty of law enforcement to investigate and charge those responsible. We are mindful of the great loss these parents have suffered, but the facts and circumstances of this case demand the filing of criminal charges.

Parental responsibility for the safety and supervision of their children has, and will remain, a bedrock principle of the State's Attorney Office."

We are SO happy with the Pool Fence we purchased from Jody of Pool Guard of League City. We had shopped around (these economic times require it) and we were extremely pleased with Jody and the product presentation. I work in medical sales and like to challenge others on their product knowledge and industry knowledge. Jody passed with flying colors as did the pool safety fence. We are very pleased we purchased the self closing gate. The locking feature has proven to be a very wise purchase!

Pool Guard of League City was our provider of Pool Safety Fence. We had some weather delays and obstacles (family member got sick)and Jody was very accommodating. We are very pleased with the color we picked out for our pool fence and are very pleased with the self closing pool gate. If we ever move and need a fence, I hope we can have Jody install it. Thanks Jody.

Galveston, Texas

While we only needed a small amount of pool fence, Jody showed up the same day for an estimate and provided a fair price for our pool safety fence. The other companies we contacted would not even return our call and some did not even answer! Thanks for being the professional Jody!

We contacted Pure Choice Pools (a dealer for Pool Guard pool safety fences) for an estimate for the pool that is coming with the house we just purchased. We were pleasantly surprised that Steve responded to our call (when we called!)and showed up to our new house that evening. After an extensive conversation of the pool safety fence and the benefits of the self closing, self latching gate, Steve pointed out some other items that needed to be done with our pool pump (glad he knows what he is talking about). Anyway, we decided to go with Pure Choice Pools because the quality of materials they use is great and they were able to install the pool fence, make some other repairs to our pool and get things nice and tidy in a single day at a very fair price. Thanks for the great product and service Steve!

Freedom Pools has been servicing my pool for the better part of two years at this point. Two years ago, our daughter had our first grandson (Parker) and while at the moment he is not the only, we elected to have a pool safety fence put in. I contacted Fred, my go to “pool guy” and he told me that he had started with Pool Guard over a year ago and that he now installed pool fences, pool nets and pool covers with Pool Guard as his materials provider. The product is GREAT. The self closing gate is truly a must with anyone that has kids. I cannot tell you how great this thing is. Anyway, I wanted to write a quick note to say thanks Fred for the great service in the past and future and to let you know we are very pleased with our pool safety fence and gate.

Fred did an outstanding job installing our pool safety net at our second home in Naples, Florida. While we had some weather related issues (rained out the installation two times) Fred was certainly very accommodating. The quality of the service and the quality of the product (the pool net) certainly set Pool Guard in a league of their very own. Thanks for securing our pool. By the way, Fred’s wife is great, we are probably going to have his company start maintaining our pool.

Leaves are never a welcome accessory to any pool and ours is no exception. We contacted Pool Guard of Charlotte and had Gary come out and measure for the pool cover and within two weeks we had a custom made pool cover installed on our pool. We chose the blue pool cover as it appeared most like the color of the pool. When our neighbor’s kids come over I feel at ease with the pool cover as it will also keep them from falling in the pool (a great second benefit for us). Thanks for the prompt service Gary!

We had spent several hours on the internet looking at pool safety options and elected to go with Pool Guard. The “do it yourself” option appeared cheaper however after my wife reminded me of the half done projects we currently have around the house, we elected to have Dave McDowell of Pool Guard install the pool safety fence. While I feel I could have done it myself, Dave was in and out in less than six hours and the fence is perfect. The economical savings that I think I would have saved were probably not really “savings”, just perceived savings. I just wanted to say thanks Dave for giving me a fair price and doing a great job and letting me enjoy my weekend without another “honey do” project. One question, do you do tiles? Just kidding.

Charlotte, North Carolina

We just purchased a home with a pool and with two kids under the age of 4. We have or at least had genuine concerns regarding what to do to keep the children away from the pool. We started our search for safety products on the internet when we came across Pool Guard. Gary answered all of our questions extensively and upon his visit to our new home we had an extensive review as to which product provide which benefits. We decided on a pool safety fence for the convenience and the self closing gate really just made sense provided we wanted easy adult access my husband and I as well as the pool personnel. The pool safety fence was the best choice for us. We are very pleased with the quality of the product and the quality of service we received. Thanks Gary!

Pool Safety fence is something that we needed but did not want simply because it would obstruct our view especially given we just spent $48k on our pool and wanted a clear view to our investment. We contacted Pool Guard of North Texas. Derek set our mind as ease when he showed us Pool Guard’s ultra-transparent mesh. We had it installed last week and are very pleased with the product. We would recommend Derek to anyone that asks (and they have since we had our pool opening party).

We contacted Derek for a repair for our pool safety fence (the company that installed it would not return our calls). Derek called back within the hour and scheduled a visit for an estimate. We will say that he was prompt and courteous and he charged a fair price. We are building our second home on the lake and will be calling Derek from Pool Guard for a pool safety fence for that house. Derek did a great job with our pool safety net. We were (should I say my husband was) reluctant to have a pool safety net installed on our pool. I can tell you that it does not impact our aesthetics of the backyard and we can relax while in the backyard while working, playing or entertaining. We have had our pool net for three months and it is certainly easy to take off and put on. Thanks again Derek! Mary & John Todlon III
